Mercenary February Tournament Report
First tournament of 2018 for me, as I had to skip the January one due to travel. It was really great seeing not just all the friendly faces I’m used to but also three players new to our little tournament scene. Our illustrious WarCor, Adam, also ran a demo game for a fourth newcomer and set him up with a brand-new ISS army.
One interesting thing of note is that this was a Soldier of Fortune tournament… and absolutely no one brought any out-of-faction mercenaries. I guess the mission list didn’t really ask for Yuan Yuans and McMurrough? I dunno… I was so focused on trying out some Nomad units I don’t usually use that I didn’t bother thinking about mercenaries… Top 5 of the Las Vegas Open 2018 Saturday Soldier of Fortunte tournament didn’t have any mercenaries either, I hear from Adam, so perhaps it’s more of a “for funsies” format? More data!
Game 1 – The Crit With No Name
My first game of the day was against Dan, who was one of the new to the tournament scene players. After we introduced ourselves, he mentioned that this was going to be his first ITS tournament ever! Well, I certainly couldn’t tell. He was a tough, capable opponent and played a tight game from the roll off to the last order. I’m excited to see him across the table again!

Deployment
I lost the roll-off and Dan chose to go first. This suited me just fine as I wanted to see his deployment, as I don’t have a ton of experience against Vanilla Yu Jing. We had been chatting beforehand about how we both like 10 order lists, so I totally expected to face one. Dan did not disappoint! My first observation was that the exclusion zone really cramped his style. A Zhanshi that totally wasn’t Dan’s LT tucked itself into a building in the center of his deployment zone, up on the second floor. At Dan’s right of the building were a pair of Zuyongs, one was an FO and the other was toting an HMG. The left side of his deployment (my right) had pair of Celestial Guards, one with a hacking device and the other with a smoke LGL. A Wu Ming FO was also on that side to provide a beefy body to go take objectives.
The rest of Dan’s forces were all infiltrators, and they hugged the edge of the exclusion zone. The Guilang FO was in the center, ready to advance up the middle of the board, and the other Guilang and its mine covered the approach to the Celestial Guards. With that, deployment passed to me.
I wasn’t sure how aggressive Dan was going to be, and his deployment suggested to me that this certainly wasn’t his first game, so I opted for a balanced deployment–left some stuff out to ARO, but not too much, and certainly not anything I minded losing. I saw that the central and left firelanes could be contested from the tall building in the middle of my deployment zone, so I put a Transductor Zond and Jaguar on that building to keep things covered.
My Uberfall crouched behind a small crate in my backfield, as there really wasn’t a great place for them at all. I covered the right with my Interventor, Tsyklon, Stempler, and another Transductor. The Interventor was watching the board edge for any Tiger soldiers in case a bunch of the camo tokens were actually mines (as it turned out, only one was). I put Morlocks on both sides, and then put my Taskmaster and his attendant Koalas in the center, based on Dan’s HVT deployment. After sticking the two Zeros on either flank, with the AHD Zero on the same side as the Zhuyongs (as I wanted tools for that there), I passed deployment order back to Dan. He pulled a Shikami out of reserve and put it in the middle, and I reinforced the AHD Zero with a Moira E/M LGL. A firm handshake and we were off!
Turn 1
Top of Turn 1 – Yu Jing
Dan starts by making an area of safety for him to wander around in his backfield by firing smoke grenades with his CG Smoke LGL. His left and center objectives are now covered with smoke, and he wastes no time in pushing both buttons with his Wu Ming FO on the left and Guilang in the center. Dan is a model of efficiency as he finds an angle to snipe my HVT with his Shikami, netting him 3 points straight off the bat, turn 1. The Shikami retreats into cover, his dirty work done. The only stumbling point of his turn is entirely the fault of Dan’s dice–his Zuyong FO can’t seem to push the rightmost button (from Dan’s perspective), so Dan settles for pulling his CG back into cover before passing the turn. All in all a well executed first turn of grabbing objectives and getting an early point lead.
Bottom of Turn 1 – Nomads
Well, my turn starts with Dan 3 points and 3 objectives ahead. Hoo boy. My Morlocks and Uberfall advance straight ahead without incident. I don’t want to overinvest in any of my warbands at the moment, I need to keep Dan locked into his deployment zone to give me freedom of movement for the second turn. There’s a hole in his deployment, so I use it to drop in a Hellcat and take out his Celestial Guard LGL. The Hellcat isn’t in the most convenient place, and there are truly a lot of camo tokens lurking just outside of Dan’s deployment zone, so I leave my Hellcat there to be a nuisance. What I really need to do is take out some of his heavy infantry, and I elect to use the Moira’s E/M LGL to do it, since I don’t see any engineers on the table. I dash her up the left side and drop two E/M grenades on his Zuyong FO, freezing the HI in place on the second hit. I’ve only got two regular orders left in the group. I spend one attempting to E/M grenade Dan’s Lieutenant, but it’s outside of 16″ and I whiff. The Chimera and her Pupniks sneak into a building with their irregular order so they’ll be tough to dig out.
I’ve got a few more irregular orders to spend on the Morlocks so I just advance them, trying to tighten the net to keep Dan in his half of the table. To anchor my backline, I use the last orders in both combat groups to reposition the Taskmaster and throw the Taskmaster, the Tsyklon, Stempler, and Moira into suppression.
Turn 2
Top of Turn 2 – Yu Jing
Dan brings his Daofei in to shift my Moira, but a few crits later and the Daofei breaks itself against the Optically Disrupted Wall.
Well, a Moira in suppression can’t be everywhere, so Dan does the right thing and begins increasing his points lead. He brings his Shikami to grab the objective the Zhuyong FO failed to secure. In the process of pushing the button my Morlock plinks a wound off the Shikami with his pistol, though, which will be relevant later. The Celestial Guard hacker loops around the building in Dan’s backfield to get an angle on my Hellcat, and the Wu Ming moves to successfully secure Dan’s middle left objective. My Morlock on the right tries to stop this but gets blown off the table by the Wu Ming’s shotgun. The penal legionnaire pushes further up the field, but this brings him into LoF of my Tsyklon who double crits him on 12’s (X-visors in suppression is awesome), dropping him.
Dan’s got 4 antennas to my zero now, so he throws the Guilang Minelayer, CG Hacker, the Shikami, and the Guilang FO into suppression to keep me busy.
Bottom of Turn 2 – Nomads
I push my remaining Morlock up towards the Shikami but thankfully stay out of LoF. The Chimera gets herself shot by the HMG Zuyong from across the map as she tries to make her way out of the building. I need to start abusing the Pupniks to eat AROs better… Anyway, it’s time to start the button pushing campaign. A few orders later, and my two Zeros and the Stempler have pushed the nearest row of buttons. On the way to grab the middle-middle objective, I lose the Stempler to the Zhuyong HMG but manage to shuffle up the Tsyklon and the Zeros as part of a coordinated order. That Zhuyong is just making back his points like that’s his only job or something! And all in ARO too! I try to get cute and take out the Guilang FO with my Jaguar, but just end up losing him.
Ah well. I put out some mines covering the Guilang Minelayer and the Shikami as part of another coordinated order, throw up white noise via the Tsyklon’s repeater, and try to take out the Guilang with my Zero FO. Sadly, suppression is a tough nut to crack and I lose my Zero. Probably didn’t need to do that. With help from the Zero AHD’s mine, the Morlock knocks out the Shikami, and I recamo my remaining Zero before passing the turn.
Turn 3
Top of Turn 3 – Yu Jing
Dan shuffles his remaining troops around, positioning them to cover his HVT, and throws them all into suppression, even his Lieutenant. It’s at this point that I realize while I have a bunch of unconscious models in combat group 1, none of them are dead so I can’t move my Taskmaster over without a command token… and I’ve spent them all. Dan’s only got an order left, which he uses to gun down my Hellcat from behind…He hits twice… and I pray that I fail both ARM rolls… and I do!
Bottom of Turn 3 – Nomads
We’re tied on antennas and specialists, but Dan has an HVT kill with his datatracker, so he’s winning. I’ve only got my Interventor and Zero left as specialists, and my Interventor is all the way in my deployment zone, far away from any unpushed buttons. Furthermore, I’ve got to hit his HVT to really cinch the win. Thankfully, I can flop the Taskmaster into group 1 due to Free Agent and the Hellcat’s untimely demise.
I have a shot on the CG hacker with minimal movement from the Taskmaster, so I take it on my way up the field. I hit a few times, but the Celestial Guard passes all his ARM saves. And here is where the Red Fury starts to fall flat with its DAM 13. I continue pushing the Taskmaster up the board, gunning down the frozen Zhuyong FO as I do so (roll enough crits and you’ll get what you need). Okay. I’m one up on specialist kills now, having taken out the Shikami, the Zhuyong FO, and the Wu Ming FO to his Stempler and Zero FO count. I rush my Zero AHD to tag the far left antenna, and she comes through for me but Dan ties up the dead specialist count with his suppression AROs.
I’ve only got one order left, so I dash the Taskmaster around the corner and drop a Pulzar template on the HVT, who rolls a 19 on BTS! GAH! I do finish off the unconscious Shikami with my swarm of nanobees though. Before we end the game, I realize that the Tsyklon is in range of the downed Wu Ming, so I ping it with my Interventor and grab a hacking classified. What a close game, and a hearty well played goes out to Dan.
5-3 Nomad Victory!
Notes
- Well, first off, I should’ve thought more about HVT placement. I usually don’t care that much but I keep forgetting that they are valid targets in some of these missions. I gave Dan an easy three points at the start when I easily could’ve avoided that and made him come dig my HVT out in an ARO web.
- I don’t know why I challenged the Guilang Minelayer in suppression. There really was no point to that other than hammering down Dan’s order pool, but I was already in a good position there… could’ve saved the order to use the Hellcat or something. Silly me.
- Moira came through for me again. I need to get much better at piloting her and estimating 16″. One day!
- My Stemplers keep dying. I think I need to be more careful with them, I gave Dan an easy ARO with his HMG, totally not thinking.
- Uberfall continue to be very complicated to use. I need a lot more experience with them and need to practice with them a lot more.
- I don’t think I made the best use of my Hellcat HMG, but Dan did a good job of locking down the flanks and most of his deployment zone with camo tokens. 360 LoF on camo is quite useful against AD.
Game 2 – Kriza’s Revenge
Game two was against Nate. Even though I’ve had a good run of games recently against him, it was really due to dice and not my ability, as this game will show. We had just gotten back from a relaxing lunch at a nearby dive bar, and I wasn’t really laser focused. You can’t do that against Nate though, you gotta bring your A-game and leave it all on the table!

Deployment
I had played Nate’s list and sort of knew what to expect. I forget who won the roll off… maybe me… and I chose deployment, maybe? I don’t remember. Anyway. His Taskmaster went down on my right, with the Daktari and Interventor nearby. His Moran locked down my left board edge, paired with his Prowler, and his Zero KHD covered my right board edge. A string of Morlocks appeared across his backfield, along with a pair of Transductor Zonds and a baggage bot. With that, it was to me.
I shooed Nate away to place my Spektr MSR covering his backfield. I figured I could use it against some target of opportunity, get a similar result to my last game of hunting party. Of course, Nate doesn’t make mistakes and sees into the future… so…The rest of my deployment was pretty mediocre. I wasn’t sure what exactly I wanted to do. I covered the backfield in AROs, honoring the Hellcat that I suspected Nate didn’t have, but you have to honor it anyway. My Interventor was all by herself on the far left, with my Prowler and Intruder a ways away. The middle was covered by my Tsyklon, who I left out with Zoe, Pi-Well, and Pi-Well’s bot nearby, figuring I would use it as an ARO piece and pick it up when it got shot. I put my Reverend Moira E/M LGL on the right and then passed deployment back to Nate.Nate saw my juicy Intruder Lt near my Interventor on his right and deployed his Kriza to nab them. I agonized a bit over where to deploy my Deployable Repeater Zero, and eventually settled for what I thought might be the Kriza’s path, near the left objective. Of course, I missed that this spot was visible from Nate’s left DZ…
I wasn’t sure if deploying my Intruder on the ground was a good idea. Knowing Nate’s list, I figured he would have to climb Carlota up there to get him, and it would cost him a ton of time and orders to do it, but I wanted to be able to actually use my Intruder for something should the need arise. I settled for putting him the backfield, prone, figuring that he would at least be protected until a Morlock ran all the way up the board which I didn’t think was going go to be super likely.
Turn 1
Top of Turn 1 – Nomads (OpFor)
Right off the bat, it’s clear Nate’s Kriza has had his morning coffee in spite of me docking it two orders. My Tsyklon is just HMGed off the table in the first order. Nate activates his Taskmaster and discovers my Zero from across the map. It takes a few orders of shooting, and I drop an E/Mauler and Repeater while Nate blasts away with the Taskmaster’s Red Fury, but eventually my Zero goes down. Without hesitation, Nate guns down the Repeater and starts establishing some board control.
The KHD Zero pushes the rightmost button and litters the area with mines while the Morlocks advance with their irregular orders. I’ve got some shots with the Spektr to this but don’t want to lose it needlessly against the Taskmaster or Kriza. The Kriza, Taskmaster, Daktari, and Moran go into suppression to cover my board edges, and the Transductors watch the board edges, sure that I’ve got a Tomcat or Hellcat just waiting to walk on.
Bottom of Turn 1 – Nomads
Well, I get too greedy with the Moira, and waste my whole turn trying to E/M LGL the Taskmaster. I hit once but Nate just passes BTS like a boss. I definitely should’ve used some coordinated orders here, because no one else moves this turn. Stupid of me.
Turn 2
Top of Turn 2 – Nomads (OpFor)
The KHD Zero and Morlock work together to take out the Moira. The KHD drops its last mine, and the Morlock runs around the corner to chain rifle me. Astoundingly, I dodge all of this, but not a recamo-and-surprise-shot move from the Zero, and my Moira is down for the count.
Nate really gets a lot of mileage from his Zeros. Need to study his playstyle more. The Morlocks continue their inexorable advance across the table, followed by the Kriza. I catch the Kriza in the open with the Spektr during a coordinated order.
Kriza Boracs, Special Crisis Unit – HMG
33.51% — Kriza Boracs, Special Crisis Unit inflicts 1 or more wounds on Spektrs (Unconscious)
06.25% — Kriza Boracs, Special Crisis Unit inflicts 2 or more wounds on Spektrs (Dead)
35.27% — Neither player succeeds
31.22% — Spektrs inflicts 1 or more wounds on Kriza Boracs, Special Crisis Unit (1 W)
11.12% — Spektrs inflicts 2 or more wounds on Kriza Boracs, Special Crisis Unit (Unconscious)
Spektrs – MULTI Sniper Rifle (Anti-Materiel Mode)
This is probably the best possible opportunity for me to to stop Nate’s monster, but in spite of the pretty even odds I get crit off the table. With his last few orders, Nate grabs the other objective with his Moran and passes the turn.
Bottom of Turn 2 – Nomads
I figure I’ve got to glue his Lieutenant, who is still in suppression watching a board edge, to have any hope of tying this game up. After we check LoF and deployment zone size, it’s clear that I can’t safely bring in Carlota behind Nate’s Taskmaster, so I use Pi Well to take out the Zero KHD, and bring in Carlota in the safety of my deployment zone, where there’s a building breaking LoF to the Taskmaster. This of course puts me at long range to Nate’s Taskmaster, so when I Climbing+ her up the building to start blasting away with her ADHL, Nate is forced to return fire on one die. Sadly, I sink my whole turn into this strategy again, with Nate passing an ADHL save on a 1 and eventually shocking Carlota off the table.
Turn 3
Top of Turn 3 – Nomads (OpFor)
Nate continues sweeping his Morlocks up the table, clearing the E/Mauler on the way. I do manage to Isolate a Morlock, but this isn’t relevant at all. The Kriza glues my Interventor (Full Auto ADHL is pretty rude), kills Pi Well, and finishes the turn looking at my Intruder and Zoe after building a fort with his own Carlota and his Taskmaster, who has retreated all the way back to his deployment zone.
Bottom of Turn 3 – Nomads
I’ve got no options left, really. I try to put some points on the board by gluing the Moran with my Prowler, but I die horribly to CKs and the Kriza. Zoe tries to make her way to an objective, and dies horribly to the Kriza as well. Out of options and with only a Lieutenant order left for my Intruder, I concede. Nate’s securing my HVT and has ticked most of the boxes this game, save doing anything to my Lt, so it’s a
5-0 Nomads (OpFor) Victory!
All in all a very careful, methodical game by Nate. Well played, sir!
Notes
- Rough game. Spending so much time trying to take out Nate’s Lieutenant wasn’t really all that great, especially since he was on the board edge, just waiting to be fixed up by Carlota.
- I definitely needed to use more coordinated orders, at least I could’ve developed my board some as I did stupid things with Carlota and the Moira. That would actually have been a good plan, given both the E/M LGL and the ADHL are burst one, so the burst penalty wouldn’t have been an issue. Yes, no point in coordinating the spec-fired E/M grenade, but I had other options too.
- Not having good, fast mine clearing options like Koalas and Pupniks was troublesome.
- The Spektr didn’t really do a whole lot of anything this game. I want to continue using him in the forward-deployed sniper role, or maybe a Zero in a similar role to save points, as I think it’s a valuable skillset to develop for when I eventually get into other armies with more interesting infiltrating or AD sniper options.
- This game sold me on the Kriza. It’s not so much a gunfighter as a hole puncher. With the Tsyklon gone and my Prowler trapped by Crazy Koalas (not sure why I deployed him so close to the Moran) I had no good way out of my deployment zone.
- I really need to play going second against Nate more. It’s a good learning exercise to really make sure you nail your deployment. I obviously didn’t this time.
- We spent some time talking about where my Zero could’ve gone… there was a spot a few inches back behind some cover that was better, mostly because you’d have to walk all the way around to see her. I think I panicked a little knowing how dangerous the Kriza could be (rightfully so this game) so I knee-jerk-deployed.
Game 3 – Clock Army of Acontecimento
Erik has been incredibly busy with work and school as of late, something I totally understand, so it was a real treat to see him across the table for my last game. Even better, this was my first time playing against his Acontecimento, which was really exciting!

Deployment
I won the roll off and elected to choose deployment, because this was a very open board. Erik thought for a bit and then decided to go first, figuring he would be able to alpha-strike me into submission and then have an easy turn 2 and 3. His Bagh-Mari Haris deployed on his left, covering basically the entire board. Ugh. Erik put his ‘bots down on the right, the Fugazi exposed to slow me down and the Pathfinder and Mulebot stuck in cover to protect them from my counterstrike at the bottom of turn 1. The rest of his troops strung themselves out in the backfield, mostly in total cover save a lone Regular. His HVT stood in the middle of no man’s land, twirling her parasol to distract me from the pair of Nagas skulking about in the midfield along with an obvious (and annoying) mine.
My deployment was a little odd. Gun-shy after my game with Nate, I tucked the Tsyklon into total cover, protecting my Interventor from any AD shenanigans. On the other side of the Interventor’s building, a Morlock protected the front approach. I dedicated a pair of flash pulse bots to watching the left and central approaches, with my Stempler in cover at the front of the deployment zone ready to deal with all those camo tokens. I put my own infiltrating FO atop a building in the midfield, mainly so I could rely on him to be there at the end of the game for points. My Jaguar watched the Bagh-Mari fireteam from across the table, and I did my best to cram the Uberfall, the Taskmaster, and another Morlock into the left side of my deployment zone. The Uberfall is quite difficult to deploy, so I settled for putting some on top of buildings, figuring I would use their climbing plus to get them down. The Chimera watched the board edge for tricksyness and the Moira stays in the center, not really sure what she should do.
I had spent the better part of the last 6 months talking up Acontecimento to Erik, especially the awesomeness of the Montesa LGL, so I fully expected one to show up out of reserve. I held my Zero AHD in reserve specifically to counter this move, and was both elated and alarmed when one showed up 16″ from my Interventor. I put my Zero on the other side of the building from the Montesa, and we kicked off the game. Erik chooses to use INTELCOM, I do not.
Turn 1
Top of Turn 1 – Acontecimento
As anticipated, Erik starts things off by trying to spec-fire a grenade onto my Interventor. He succeeds, but I pass my ARM roll. Acid Burn manages to Oblivion the Knight, removing him as a threat for now.
The Bagh-Mari shuffle around, and Erik stands up the Bagh-Mari HMG to shoot at my Stempler. After losing my Zond, as the Bagh-Mari reposition, I manage to catch the Haris guy in the open with my Jaguar and drop him, although I lose the Jaguar to the sniper. So far, so good. Losing the Stempler hurts, but I’m happy to trade up with the Jaguar like that, especially given that I’ve gotten rid of the burst bonus now.
Erik drops in an Akal Commando, who does his best to clear out one of the Taskmaster’s Koalas but can’t seem to land a shot. Eventually Erik runs out of orders and throws the Akal into suppression. A Naga FO shows up to try again, and after another two orders drops the Koala.
The Naga tries to get up to more mischief, but I throw eclipse smoke with my Chimera to block his LoF to all my juicy targets and my Moira shocks it off the table from the middle of my deployment zone. Hooray! I knew I put her there for a reason! Totally planned. Yup yup. Erik throws a bunch of his army into suppression, some of which is in view, so I take my shots but fail to hit. Most importantly there’s a Naga Minelayer standing on the central roof in suppression, which is no good.
Bottom of Turn 1 – Nomads
My Morlock on the left tries to protect my Chimera with smoke, but fails his roll. Conversely, the Morlock on the right takes a ton of fire from the Bagh Mari but smokes them out successfully. The Chimera makes a beeline for the Akal in suppression and gets gunned down by the Naga Minelayer in suppression. BOO! I buff the Tsyklon and force the minelayer prone, then try to shoot the sniper Bagh Mari through some Interventor-provided white noise. Alas, I still haven’t shook the bad dice luck from last game and the Tsyklon goes down. I don’t have cover, as I’m on the roof, but I don’t think it would’ve mattered much, given my abysmal roll. At some point during all this, I reposition the Moira with a coordinated order.
I bring in a Hellcat behind the Akal Commando, forcing Erik to break suppression to spin around. My Taskmaster scoots around the corner and guns him down, now that suppression is gone. I use the Hellcat to take out Erik’s Tech Bee, something he’s no doubt thrilled about, but I didn’t want to deal with flash pulse and a Regular in suppression. The Regular, of course, finishes off the Hellcat in my next order. Gah! So frustrating. With my last order, I recamo my Zero on the right.
Turn 2
It’s at this time Erik and I realize we’ve spent far too long shooting the shit and catching up and not enough time playing, as all the other players are watching us play and looking at their watches… so we agree to just power through one more turn as fast as we can go and call the score then.
Top of Turn 2 – Acontecimento
Erik tries SUPER hard to take out the Moira with his Bagh Mari HMG. I just keep dodging and passing ARM rolls. The Montesa tries again to spec-fire my Lieutenant, but he whiffs this time. I’ve only got a Zero in the central zone against his Montesa and INTELCOM, so Erik settles for just throwing basically his entire army into his nearest zone (my far) to make sure I can’t get 5 points. As everything rolls up, I blast away with my Moira but can’t seem to really hit anything.
Bottom of Turn 2 – Nomads
I flip the Taskmaster into group one after removing something with a command token. After my first game, I forced myself to save a token till the last turn, and was very pleased I did. I blitz the Taskmaster up into the midfield, taking out a Regular on the way. My AHD Zero gets me my classified by scooting around the corner and hacking the Isolated Montesa. With my last few orders I dash the Moira into the open, blazing away with her MULTI Rifle. This takes out the Pathfinder, and I narrowly miss getting hit by the Bagh-Mari HMG. Now, both Zeros are in the central zone along with the Taskmaster and Moira, and I’ve got a random flash pulse bot in my nearest zone. Even with INTELCOM, I beat out Erik for points 130 to 108 in the central zone, so I’ve got 4 points there thanks to my Taskmaster DataTracker, giving me a
6-1 Nomad Victory!
Notes
- Well, definitely need to play faster, is what we’ve learned here. Also need to hang out with Erik more often so we don’t spend half the time hanging out!
- Definitely need to remember to hold a command token until the end to swap the Taskmaster over. Glad I did this time.
- ODD in cover is reaaaally hard to shift, even with MSV1.
- I’ll just go ahead and say I’m terrible at using the Uberfall. I don’t know how to properly deploy them, I don’t know how to move them, and I definitely don’t know how to reliably not get them killed.
- I think I need to start canceling their impetuous order when it’s a really bad idea…
- I’m always happy when people try to shoot/otherwise go out of their way to deal with CKs. Spend those orders!
- My deployment against AD was pretty decent. Kept my guys alive, got some attacking SKs out of the way with my Moira. Generally happy with that.
- I think I need more MSV1 in my lists. I’m seeing a ton of camo troopers and mimetism guys in the enemy deployment zones, so I need to figure out something there.
Final Results
Well, even after my abysmal performance in Game 2, I eked second place, just behind Nate. Great tournament, and a big thanks to Nate for running it in Adam’s stead (who was busy doing warcor things like getting new players involved in the game).
I’m still a novice to Uberfall as well, but I have had luck with positioning so that they are forced to ARO a Pupnik off the bat by placing the Chimera in a way that her first move doesn’t get her out of total cover. Obviously can’t happen all the time, but it helps when you can.
I need to get my Bakunin back on the table as I have been focusing a lot on my main Aleph lately.
